Game of Thrones Season 5 | A Day in the Life | Production Documentary

It should come as little surprise to learn that producing a single episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones is a Herculean effort. Spanning multiple locations like Belfast, Northern Ireland, Dubrovnik, Croatia and Sevilla and Osuna, Spain – and each with immaculate sets that transports the viewer into the fantasy realm – recently HBO crafted a short documentary unveiling the behind-the-scenes action that depicts what it takes to create the show. Shot in 3 of the 5 countries that feature as locations over the course of the same 24-hour period, interesting tidbits include the request of 60,000 extras to participate, the usage of the Plaza de Toros in Osuna, and the reveal that it takes 1000 crew members 120 days to bring Game of Thrones to life. Game of Thrones season 5 returns April 12

THEESatisfaction have aired the title track taken from their forthcoming album. New single ‘EarthEE’ features contributions from Shabazz Palaces, Erik Blood and Porter Ray, with the album to follow 24th February on Sub Pop. THEESatisfaction released ‘Recognition’ (featuring Shabazz Palaces) in December as the first single from their second long-player.

Treated with their usual cosmic style, ‘EarthEE’ is served with echoing, commanding drums that merge with ascending interstellar keys. Each member takes a turn to lend smooth vocals to a relaxed beat, moving between verse and chorus seamlessly to produce a soulful, effortless sound of the future.

Bipolar Sunshine | Daydreamer | New Single

British pop artist Bipolar Sunshine has tweeted a couple of things lately that might provide some helpful context for understanding what he's going for with his sun-bright, ebullient new single "Daydreamer," produced by SBTRKT and Fraser T Smith: "I often fantasize with the notion that anything is possible" (linking to a preview of the song we're premiering today) and "Answering creative questions with non creative people who then try and tell me what to do just longs out my day." We're glad Bipolar Sunshine is staying resilient, because he's making music that's pretty undeniable in its pop contagiousness. Indeed, he told FADER of "Daydreamer" that the song is "about trying to maintain my sanity and dreams whist swimming with sharks. Maintaining what you intended to do and carrying it out to the end." Check it below.

Bipolar’s new single will be released on 26th January and comes ahead of the release of his debut album, which is expected to land in summer 2015.

Jojo Abot Performs 2 Songs Off Her Forthcoming EP Debut, ‘Fyfya Woto’

Ghanaian Afro-Soul Singer Jojo Abot Performs 2 Songs Off Her Forthcoming EP Debut, ‘Fyfya Woto’

Ghanaian afro-soul songstress was in the midst of readying her debut EP, Fyfya Woto, a conceptual project produced by Copenhagen’s Jonas Rendbo which will focus on “a woman’s right to choose.” While we await news of an official release date, Abot has previewed two new singles off the record in the form of live videos filmed at Copenhagen’s Millfactory Studios with Abot and her three-man band.

The eclectic singer cites South African reggae icon Lucky Dube as one of the musical influences that shaped the making of Fyfya Woto, and the first track “To Li” bears witness to this influence as Abot spits in Ewe and English over a midtempo reggae groove. On “Pi Lo Lo” (named for the Ghanaian children’s game similar to hide and seek) Abot shows off her vocal versatility over a slow-burning electronic beat anchored by ethereal synths while exploring the risks of infidelity and the consequences that come with openly expressing a forbidden love. Watch both videos below. For more on Jojo Abot read the preview of Stocktown’s Afripedia, a new 5-part documentary series on creatives in Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, Angola, and Senegal.

YouTube Now Supports 60fps Videos

You've never watched YouTube quite like this: today the company began rolling out support for higher video frame rates like 60fps. We've seen movie trailers and other special clips appear with higher fps counts before, but now it works for regular user uploads, too. To see the smoother motion, you'll need to be watching in either 720p or 1080p HD. Both Chrome and Safari 8 worked fine in our tests, but we're seeing mixed results with mobile browsers. Once you hit play, the difference is immediate and hugely noticeable — especially when you're watching video game footage.

There are plenty of situations where faster frame rates can make a huge difference, but it's easy to spot the upgrade with gaming content. For years, YouTube uploads have been capped at around 30fps, which looks perfectly fine when watching most types of video, but falls short with games. When you're playing a PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or Wii U through your television, the frame rate is always much higher than what YouTube's been able to display — until now.

Finally YouTube can show those clips at their native frame rate. Kotaku points to the above Mario Kart 8 as demo footage, and rightly so: it looks amazing. Watch for long enough and you might start wondering why there's not a controller in your hand.

Mario Circuit - 1:44.414 - Kαzυσ (Mario Kart 8 World Record) 60FPS WITH CHROME

Back in June, YouTube promised that it would add 48fps and 60fps playback support for "motion-intense" videos uploaded to the service, but it's kept relatively quiet on the matter since. But now it would appear that smoother frame rates are here. Other videos published today (such as the below Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze clip) also exhibit 60fps playback.

The Franklys | What You Said | OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO

Fankly speaking, it works.

Hailing from all corners of the globe (well, Europe and North America) London based four piece The Franklys only emerged at the beginning of this year. Yet their naughty, contagious take on garage rock has already seen the quartet sell out the 100 Club before heading back out on the road for more.

Live, the band are a blur of lipstick, rock hard riffs and attitude, with The Franklys coming across as four female Holden Caulfields in the process.

New single ‘What You Said’ is out on Monday (October 13th) and comes accompanied with a video shot – rather incongruously – in the fields of Merry Olde England. It sorta works, though – check it out below.

Willow Smith Covers | EASY EASY | King Krule

Now, she’s released a cover of King Krule’s “Easy Easy” from his debut album 6 Feet Beneath The Moon and … it’s actually pretty damn good. Listen below and compare it to the original.

Mighty Mark | Mighty EP

Mighty Mark ft. TT The Artist and Sushi Samson - "Ping Pong" (Official Video)

As a proud Cherry Hill-native and inventive Baltimore club music producer and DJ, Mighty Mark bridges the gap between the intensity of old school Baltimore club music and the futuristic style of the new school. "Mighty" is his first EP but this young producer isn't a newcomer as he used to be known as "Murder Mark". His tracks are supported by DJs like Sinden, Nightwave, Brenmar, Redlight, and L-Vis 1990 to name a few and are featured at Vice/Noisey, Earmilk, Do Androids Dance and countless music sites. After remixing Big Dope P's "Bird Flu" and appearing on #DMP6 with Feadz, MikeQ, Dj Earl Teklife, Ezekiel and more, Mark presents his first official 5 tracks EP featuring collaborations with TT The Artist, Sushi Samson, Mike-Mike ZOME, Young H.I.D., DJ K-Spin, Colada and Rachel G.
