Bipolar Sunshine | Daydreamer | New Single

British pop artist Bipolar Sunshine has tweeted a couple of things lately that might provide some helpful context for understanding what he's going for with his sun-bright, ebullient new single "Daydreamer," produced by SBTRKT and Fraser T Smith: "I often fantasize with the notion that anything is possible" (linking to a preview of the song we're premiering today) and "Answering creative questions with non creative people who then try and tell me what to do just longs out my day." We're glad Bipolar Sunshine is staying resilient, because he's making music that's pretty undeniable in its pop contagiousness. Indeed, he told FADER of "Daydreamer" that the song is "about trying to maintain my sanity and dreams whist swimming with sharks. Maintaining what you intended to do and carrying it out to the end." Bipolar’s new single will be released on 26th January and comes ahead of the release of his debut album, which is expected to land in summer 2015.

JACK WHITE | LAZARETTO

“When I say nothing, I say everything,” howls Jack White on “Lazaretto”, staking the declaration between verses he spits out a little like Dylan in “Subterranean Homesick Blues”. The idea is enforced when, after swelling with distortion and flying phalanges, the song launches into a psych bzzzz and detours yet again for a fiddle-sweeped closing leg, reminding us that White produced Loretta Lynn not long ago. Just don’t expect either version (this or the world-record-breaking RSD single) to wow the average kindergartner more than, say, the world’s largest sundae. Lazaretto, White’s second solo album, is out June 10th. –Michael Madden

Kelela x Tink | Want It | Behind The Scenes

Ever since she released her progressive and promising debut mixtape CUT 4 ME in 2013, R&B singer/songwriter Kelela continues to impress with new material like the bass-heavy “The High” and the Bok Bok-assisted “Melba’s Call”.

Her latest, “Want It”, is a collaboration with rising Chicago singer/rapper Tink and features production courtesy of DJ Dahi.

The song, which was commissioned by Yours Truly for its Songs From Scratch series, is sensual and understated.

DJ Dahi’s click-clack percussion and ambient synths provide an inviting canvas for Kelela’s soulful hooks and Tink’s laid back verses. Listen in below.

DJ Premier released some fire in the form of his new single “Chemical Burn” featuring veteran emcee Lady of Rage.

The legendary Hip Hop producer has now launched his new official website PremierWuzHere.com.

The site is being described as a “one-stop shop dedicated to Hip Hop, art, culture and life; curated by the one and only DJ Premier.” PremierWuzHere will feature all things Primo including gear, hats, clothes, merchandise and original illustrations.

Premier also partnered with Serato to release a new vinyl project. The collection will include four new tracks – 2 instrumentals, a song with NYG’z, and the single “Chemical Burn” featuring Lady Of Rage.

Little Dragon | Paris

In a little over a month, Little Dragon will be putting out Nabuma Rubberband, their first album in three years.

The follow-up to 2011′s nearly perfect Ritual Union is shaping up to be quite a release, as heard by lead single “Klapp Klapp” and now “Paris.”

BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe put up a radio play of the song for fans to stream, and it gives us a peek at the groovy, electro-soul “Paris.” Frontwoman Yukimi Nagano will no doubt rock the song live with some great moves that it inevitably inspires.

We’ll have to wait until May 13 though for Nabuma Rubberband to be released via Loma Vista.
