Major Lazer & DJ Snake feat. MØ) | Lean On

Major Lazer are back with “Lean On,” the production team’s first new track of the year and what’s supposed to serve as the start for an onslaught of projects in 2015. Featuring vocals from pop up-and-comer MØ — whose No Mythologies To Follow was severely underrated last year — the track minimizes Major Lazer’s stereotypical dancehall influences, filtering them down into what basically sounds like … well, a MØ song, I guess. The quieter bits even remind me a little bit of “Take Ü There” without the huge drop, but I guess you can’t blame Diplo for going to the same well twice. Major Lazer worked on the track with “Turn Down For What”‘s DJ Snake. Listen below.

Radio Jakarta 007 | Jannis of Jakarta Records | Arabic 60s/70s Vinyl Mix Part. 2"

i got to travel a lot in north africa in the last years thru touring with blitz the ambassador and the studio session with oddisee for sawtuha in tunisia. while being there i did some digging and found some incredible music from the 60s and 70s. some of the music in this mix has zero info on the net, was never sold on ebay and has not been "rediscovered" yet. others are somewhat classics in the field of „arabic groove“. the music in this mix comes from morocco, libya, eggpt, algeria, lebanon and syria.

check out part one of the mix here:

Towkio Ft Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment | Free Your Mind | prod. Cam o'bi

Towkio put together "Free Your Mind" with the help of Cam Obi, who served as producer, and Donnie Trumpet & the Social Experiment. The singer manipulates his vocal lightly and embeds it in the middle of a ghostly backing chorus -- part Zapp, part Daft Punk, part T-Pain. The pitch-shifting adds a pleasing touch of bendiness that meshes well with song's slick guitar.

According to Towkio, "This record was made over a year ago… When you create the right emotion the work becomes timeless. I'm just trying to make timeless music." Like Funkadelic, this artist understands that a strong groove makes questions of time irrelevant.

Towkio who is part of the SAVEMONEY crew with Vic Mensa and Chance the Rapper; check out his funky "Free Your Mind" below.

Alex Wiley ft. Kembe X | Right Right | prod. Hippie Sabotage

Leon Bridges | Lisa Sawyer

Taking on the dreamy, compelling sound of the lost soul decades is a damn high bar to set for yourself. Soul revivalists usually don’t get very far in my book, because what’s the point of competing with the likes of Sam Cooke and Otis Redding? Listening to Leon Bridges made me do a 180 on that stance. See, if you actually can hold a candle to legends like Cooke and Redding — and Bridges can — then there’s no reason not to indulge in some nostalgia. “Lisa Sawyer” tells the story of Bridges’ mother with such grace and aplomb it sounds plucked right out of the ’50s. This is no simpering modern equivalent; he stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the voices from the past, and it’s astonishing to hear. Bridges recorded the track, along with the rest of his forthcoming debut album, in his hometown of Fort Worth, TX, and his previous releases are of the same caliber, so check out “Coming Home” and “Better Man” if you missed them. “Lisa Sawyer” is the dreamiest of them all though. Listen below.

EarthGang Ft. Mac Miller | Monday | Prod By Shine

We were introduced to the duo EarthGang back in 2012 with their single "The F Bomb (IDGAF)." More than two years, the rappers remixed the track with OG Maco and put it back out, adding some more buzz to their name. The Atlanta rappers have had a slow rise to prominence, but with a buzz on deck they're currently prepping a new mixtape called Torba. The name of the mixtape is inspired by the Oromo Ethiopian tribe, thought to be one of the oldest ethnic groups in Ethiopia. The project will offer you one song for each day of the week, and given today is Monday, they've decided to debut "Monday" featuring Mac Miller.

Torba drops later this week, and will feature "The F Bomb (Remix)."

Raekwon ft. French Montana & Busta Rhymes | Wall to Wall

Raekwon has previewed a number of tracks from his long-in-the-works Fly International Luxurious Art solo album featuring guests like Estelle and Melanie Fiona. Featuring fellow New York City heavyweights Busta Rhymes and French Montana, the track has a classic thudding beat that feels right at home in the birthplace of Hip-Hop. Check it out below.

GOLDLINK & FALCONS | VROOM

In light of the news that he’s working with Rick Rubin on his next project, GoldLink collabs with L.A. producers Falcons to give us “Vroom.” As if GoldLink’s crafty flow and party centric feel wasn’t enough, implementing a Missy Elliot sample adds another dimension to the records texture, giving listeners a tangible grasp of GoldLink’s creativity. Like his last album, “The God Complex,” “Vroom” captures the essence of his artistry, displaying a wide range of cadences that are becoming signature GoldLink sound.
