EarthGang Ft. Mac Miller | Monday | Prod By Shine

We were introduced to the duo EarthGang back in 2012 with their single "The F Bomb (IDGAF)." More than two years, the rappers remixed the track with OG Maco and put it back out, adding some more buzz to their name. The Atlanta rappers have had a slow rise to prominence, but with a buzz on deck they're currently prepping a new mixtape called Torba. The name of the mixtape is inspired by the Oromo Ethiopian tribe, thought to be one of the oldest ethnic groups in Ethiopia. The project will offer you one song for each day of the week, and given today is Monday, they've decided to debut "Monday" featuring Mac Miller.

Torba drops later this week, and will feature "The F Bomb (Remix)."

Ibeyi Share Hip-Hop Inspired Mixtape Ahead of Their Debut Album

XL Recordings recently reflected on their past 25 years as an independent label with the release of a compilation album, titled Pay Close Attention, late last summer. Beyond looking back at their game-changing releases (from Tyler, the Creator, M.I.A., ADELE, Radiohead, and more), XL continues to look ahead with impressive new artist signings from FKA Twigs to Jungle and Kaytranada.

An exciting new name on their roster is Ibeyi. The 19-year-old French-Cuban sisters make music influenced by their Yoruban roots, the directness of hip-hop, and the experimentation of electronic music. Last October, they put up a captivating video of themselves covering Jay Electronica's "Better In Tune With the Infinite," showing their incredible vocal abilities, passionate musicianship, and sisterly chemistry. In discussing the melting pot of their sound, Ibeyi told Pigeons and Planes, "It is hard for us to describe our music. If we had to, we’d say we do contemporary Negro Spiritual, since our music is based on prayer."

Since releasing mesmerizing videos for the songs "Oya," "River," and "Ghosts," Ibeyi have announced that their debut album will be out Feb. 17. In advance of the album, they've shared a mixtape with us that includes songs by Jay Electronica, Childish Gambino, and Kendrick Lamar, showing just how much they love and are influenced by hip-hop, soul, and R&B.

Richard Russell, founder of XL Recordings and producer of the Ibeyi album, says, "The thread of music Lisa and Naomi chose for their mixtape, from Yoruban chants to Nina Simone, Lauryn Hill, and Earl Sweatshirt, is deep but very listenable." Enjoy the EE-BEY-EE mixtape below.

Stalley | One For The $

From their upcoming #GiveTheSummerSome mixtape, DJ S.WHiT and DJBase unveil a new track by Stalley called “One For The $.”

The record has a undeniable bounce and is packaged around a Lil Wayne sample that chants, “One for the money, two for the show/ Now clap your hands if you gotta a bankroll.” The MMG rapper delivers verses that are reflective of his life and current successes using his patented off–kilter flow.

Credit the production to Block Beattaz, who sampled Weezy’s “Got Money.”

“One For The $” is the second Stalley release of recent weeks. The last was a proper visual for “Feel The Bass” from his Honest Cowboy project.

M.I.A. | Gold

Dutch DJ duo the Partysquad contributed production to M.I.A.’s Matangi, and now they’ve aligned again for a song on The Partysquad Summer Mixtape 2014. It’s a typically noisy M.I.A. track that wouldn’t have sounded out of place on Kala, with a beat that remains spacious despite busy drum programming and various agitated blasts of sound. It almost reminds me of “Turn Down For What,” though the recent radio hit Maya interpolates here is Sage The Gemini’s “Gas Pedal.” Get into it below.
