The new Amy Winehouse film is coming this summer.

The team behind award-winning documentary Senna have returned with a new through-the-lense look at Amy Winehouse’s life.

Told in the late singer’s own words with extensive unseen archival footage and previously unheard tracks, the documentary is set to tell one of the most tragic stories of the music industry in the 21st century.

The film follows the talented singer from her rise to fame to the personal difficulties she suffered following her problems with addiction that led to her death.

A press release for the film states: “Her huge success, however, resulted in relentless and invasive media attention, which coupled with Amy’s troubled relationships and precarious lifestyle, saw her life tragically begin to unravel.”

Winehouse died from alcohol poisoning in July 2011 at the age of 27.

The singer won five Grammy Awards for her second album Back to Black, which broke records at the time of her death to become the UK’s best-selling album of the 21st century.

AMY will be released in the UK on 3 July.

B4.DA.$$ | Trailer #1

"B4.DA.$$" available everywhere 1/20/2015

"P.eace young world this is the Badmon Jozif and I just want to thank all of my supporters and fans for being so patient with me as I finished my first album. The wait is finally almost over and the release date is locked and loaded. After discovering my birthday falls on a Tuesday (the day of the week all albums drop) next year I decided to save the album drop for then (1.20.15). I thought it was the best time to cause a shift. It's always been a goal of mine to drop a project on my birthday and the premonition has finally come into fruition. The number 120 is very unique and symbolic to me as well. My 1st album on my 20th birthday this was destiny." - B4.DA.$$ P.eace!

SBTRKT ft. Denai Moore | The Light

Just a few days since UK electronic producer SBTRKT released his song "Look Away," he has shared another cut from his upcoming Wonder Where We Land in the form of "The Light."

Featuring Denai Moore, the song sports ominous synth tones and click-clacking drum machines. Moore's layered vocals sweeten the simmering soundscape somewhat, particularly when the melodies flourish during the choruses.

Wonder Where We Land drops on October 7 via Young Turks

The Moped Gangs of London: UK Bikelife

Mopeds and teenage boys have gone hand-in-hand since the 1960s. But in the last year UK BikeLife culture – where young scooter riders upload videos of themselves wheelie-ing down motorways and through industrial estates – has exploded, with the scene’s leaders picking up thousands of YouTube and Instagram followers in the process.

These British riders are beginning to receive international attention, not least from Baltimore’s notorious dirt bike club, the 12 O’Clock Boys. Although they may lack the CCs of their American counterparts, they’ve done a good job of making up for it with charisma and a dedication to the underdog of the two-wheeled world: the humble moped.

In London Bikelife, Daisy-May Hudson lets a nostalgia for the moped gangs of her teenage years get the better of her and travels to industrial estates on the outskirts of London to meet with the underground stars of the UK BikeLife scene. After spending some time at northwest London’s Ace Cafe – an iconic hangout for bikers and petrolheads – Daisy is taken along to one of the group’s big ride-outs, where hundreds of boys take over the roads with their mopeds.

Lil Dap (Group Home) | Code Of Silence (Prod. Lewis Parker)

New music from Lil Dap, former member of the legendary Group Home along with the other half of the duo, Melachi the Nutcracker. Group Home came to prominence as members of the Gang Starr Foundation in the early 90’s. Lil' Dap made his rhyming debut on Gang Starr's classic Daily Operation on the song "I'm the Man". Both members appeared on Gang Starr's critically acclaimed effort Hard to Earn, on the tracks "Speak Ya Clout" and "Words from the Nutcracker". In 1995, the group released its debut album, Livin' Proof. The album was very well received and is entirely produced by DJ Premier. A second album, A Tear for the Ghetto was released in 1999.

Since then, little has been heard of the group. Lil' Dap released a solo single, "Brooklyn Zone", in 2001, and guested on several other releases. As of 2007, Lil' Dap became an independent artist. Now Lil Dap is back with a 12” single on KingUnderground/World of Dusty Vinyl. It’s entirely produced by “The Man with the Golden Sound” Lewis Parker, and indeed it’s a golden sound. The record features 3 joints including a remix and instrumentals to all the songs plus an accapella.

All vocals by Lil Dap (J.Heath)
All tracks produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by Lewis Parker for the ever expanding “World of Dusty
Vinyl/KingUnderground" at Sunnyside HQ.
Cuts on “Code of Silence” by Pings.
Lil Dap appears courtesy of Low Budget Environment Music BMI James Heath.
Artwork/sleeve design by Richard ‘Bee’ Brown.

Available on a 12" single: 150/500 copies available on clear transparent vinyl.

Knox Brown | Harry's Code

You should never judge a book by how many superstars it’s written songs for, but with new artist Knox Brown’s star-studded roll call of Jay Z, Aloe Blacc and Mary J Blige, it’s almost impossible to look past it.

“They heard my music and wanted to work,” explains the Jamaican-born musician. “I feel so humbled and slightly gassed. This is what I’ve been dreaming of for the longest while!”

The first Knox Brown track to surface explored dreaming, but not necessarily his. In ‘Redemption Song’ he samples Martin Luther King, Muhammad Ali, Louis Farrakhan and Nelson Mandela to construct a powerful, piano-led track with a smooth Marley-inspired vocal hook over a Southern-style hip-hop beat.

“It wasn’t something I had planned, it sort of happened,” admits Knox, “but the message in that song is basically me looking back at the past and learning from these role models, seeing what people go through and still persevere. Out of a bad situation may come inspiration.”

He’s working on a EP now, and recently released another number called ‘Harry’s Code’ online. Where ‘Redemption Song’ felt more like a bite of Knox’s influences and beliefs, this track is a more complete single. He champions seeing music “without barriers”, and it starts off appropriately, like a classic dub cut, before the electric guitars and percussion slip into a funk and soul swagger, emphasising Knox’s lyrical potential and Jamaican English delivery.

“My first real introduction was when I was at a friend’s house,” begins Knox, explaining his musical genesis. “He put this game called Music 2000 in his PlayStation and my addiction for music production was born after seeing how he was making beats. Whilst in Year 10 at school, I made my first mixtape the summer after and sold 20 copies.”

It’s hard to believe, but the Knox Brown story is only just warming up.

Flamingods | Hyperborea

Flamingods started life in a defined place - someone's bedroom, in fact.

Hinging on Kamal Rasool, the experimental five piece were suddenly thrust into a strange, stressful situation. Rasool was asked to leave the UK following a change to Visa rules, meaning that the songwriter was left in a curious, strenuous form of limbo.

Drifting into his imagination, Flamingods began inhabiting the dream-world of Hyperborea. Using instruments collected from around the world, the group used these strange sounds to craft something entirely new.

New album 'Hyperborea' is due to be released on July 21st and it is, simply, incomparable to almost anything you've heard. Gilded baroque pop melodies mixed to Eastern drones and all manner of bizarre noises, the title track is now available to stream online.

Obeying no rules but its own, you can listen to 'Hyperborea' below.

Flamingods are set to release new album 'Hyperborea' on July 21st.

Escape From Greece | VICE

As one of the gateways to mainland Europe, Greece may be home to thousands of immigrants -- but at the moment, it's not a particularly happy one. Many spend their days trying to escape the xenophobia and erratic immigration policies that characterise Greece at a time of deep financial crisis. More often than not, the migrants look to the West -- to countries like the UK or Germany -- where they feel they will be able to lead richer, happier lives.

However, even if certain sections of Greek society would rather rid their country of immigrants, EU law means that's easier said than done. What do you do when you're trapped in a country that doesn't want you?

Khat Power | The Latest War On Drugs

Khat is a chewable herbal stimulant, popular among the UK's Somali and Yemeni communities. Despite there being little or no evidence that the drug causes harm to its users, the British government is working to outlaw khat. Home Secretary Theresa May says she's worried that without a ban, the UK will become a hub for smuggling it to the US and Europe, where for the most part it is already illegal. Meanwhile, experts warn that a ban might alienate Somalis in the UK and cut off vital exports from Kenya, the UK's largest khat supplier.

VICE News followed the khat trail, from the farms of Meru, central Kenya to the suburbs of west London, meeting businesspeople, users and community members all keen to have their say. With exclusive access to a London khat warehouse and khat cafes in the English capital and Nairobi, we explored the industry and the implications of a ban at home and abroad. Smugglers are happy, the youth of Kenya are not.
