Mostly Bronx graff, but there's some writers from Queens, Manhattan and Brooklyn. All this footage was filmed between January 2015 & August 2015.
All footage filmed by Mrdutch730. I used a few quotes from Bomb it, Style Wars, Infamy and some old Gtv audio that's a little choppy, i couldn't get my hands on the original audio for the GTV tracks. I used a few picks from the internet for the intro.

Netflix Readies '70s Hip-Hop Drama "The Get Down" For 2016
Netflix is dipping into hip-hop with their upcoming TV series "The Get Down."
Netflix continues to change the way we consume TV, from first simply offering a method to stream both TV shows and movies online, to later getting into producing original TV series themselves. It's worked out well, with shows like "House of Cards" and "Orange is the New Black" becoming just as popular as your average cable TV show.
They're not stopping there, as they continue to constantly develop new ideas for original series. The latest one, for which a trailer was just released, is actually centered around the 1970s hip-hop scene. Not to mention, it'll be directed by Baz Luhrmann ("The Great Gatsby", "Romeo & Juliet").
The Hollywood Reporter states that Luhrmann will be responsible for the first two episodes of the series, as well as the finale, and he will executive produce the series alongside Shawn Ryan ("The Shield").
"The Get Down" will focus on a crew of kids from the South Bronx, detailing how New York City gave birth to not only hip-hop but the punk movement as well. The VP of original content at Netflix shared a statement on the show, saying,
"From his very first and magnificently original steps on the world stage with "Strictly Ballroom" to his most recent with "The Great Gatsby", Baz conjures worlds we may not recognize initially, but once there, realize they are infused with the same dreams of every person — to belong, to matter, to live life to its fullest. We are thrilled to support Baz, Catherine and Paul and their team in their quest to illuminate those same dreams through the artists who came of age in the cauldron of the Bronx in the late 1970s."
Director Luhrmann added, "In this golden era of TV, the Netflix culture puts no constraint on creative possibilities. So it is a natural home for "The Get Down", a project I have been contemplating and working on now for over 10 years. Throughout, I've been obsessed with the idea of how a city in its lowest moment, forgotten and half-destroyed, could give birth to such creativity and originality in music, art and culture. I'm thrilled to be working with my partners at Sony and collaborating with a team of extraordinary writers and musicians, many of whom grew up with and lived the story we've set out to tell."
The show is slated to premiere in 2016, and in true Netflix style, you'll be able to binge-watch it as soon as it drops.
Watch the trailer for it below.

Cassidy: 50 Cent "Should Put Up Money On Me vs. Eminem"
Cassidy: 50 Cent Should Put Up Money on Me vs. Eminem
Cassidy shared his thoughts on Keith Murray vs. Fredro Starr and the lyrical talent of Eminem in this clip from his exclusive interview with VladTV.
Cassidy likes the fact that Keith and Fredro have the courage to step into the ring, however, he doesn't like the fact that they are going to be battling over beats. He thinks that battles should be conducted without any musical help, and referenced his past battle with Freeway and how he defeated him while Freeway was asking to put a beat on. Cassidy then addressed the idea of Eminem stepping back into the ring and whether or not he views him as one of the best lyricists in the world.
Cassidy has never seen Eminem battle outside of the movie "8 Mile," and doesn't necessarily think that he is as "unbeatable" as many people believe he is. He would be willing to battle Eminem and have 50 Cent put up money on the battle - money that Cassidy is confident he could take.

Joell Ortiz: Bobby Shmurda | Showing The Real NYC
Joell Ortiz chopped it up with VladTV correspondent Jenny Boom Boom and shared his love for Bobby Shmurda, mainly because he feels Shmurda's video, "Hot N****" showed the real daily life of a kid from Flatbush.
When Jenny compares Ortiz's group Slaughterhouse to Yonkers spitters The Lox, Ortiz can see the similarities, and says he loves running into to those guys because they are genuinely great people that he can talk to about real life situations.
Ortiz is then asked who his favorite female rapper was coming up, and he responds with Lauryn Hill, saying she was rhyming just as well as her male counterparts in an era where everyone had skills.

NYC Box Truck: Queens w/ Smart Crew
The international soccer community is in a frenzy this summer thanks to the massive convergence taking place in Brazil. This means folks from different countries, cities, and boroughs even— all over the globe— are at attention and in grand hopes of their team's road to victory. Queens, New York City isn't immune to the highly contagious fever. Considering that the borough is a melting pot of soccer-loving ethnic communities like Colombians, Jamaicans, Mexicans, Germans and Greeks, among others, it certainly won't be difficult to find locals gathered up at bars, restaurants, delis, or even in plain public, tuning in to the play-by-play of the latest match.
It was for this reason that the Queens-founded Smart Crew decided to make use of their special box truck canvas, provided by Nike NYC, to commemorate the spirit of the biggest soccer event on the planet. Formed circa 1997 by original members MEY, SYCO13, and LUK, the diverse squad has been gaining attention and strength since. They approach graffiti in a very collective and calculated manner that very much reflects, not only their name and iconic "S" with graduate cap emblem, but also the diverse unity found in soccer culture. The crew gets down like the teams get down!

NYC Box Truck: Manhattan w/ Micah
The "city that never sleeps" is comprised of five boroughs. However, you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone that doesn't categorize Manhattan as the quintessential mainland— no matter what partialness to the others. The 13-mile stretch (length) is filled with more history, relics, and stories than most can imagine. The magic of the most hustle and bustle lays here.
Harlemite and native New Yorker Micah, of über-successful local lifestyle brand Only NY, knows this probably better than anyone. He cites the city's unlimited sights, sounds, and pulses as the unlimited source of inspiration for his art. Well, that and his fondness for the tranquility of nature— the complete opposite of the urban jungle. This limbo or understanding of balance, if you will, is what best describes his art's flow, a parallel to the city's momentum and pace.

NYC Box Truck: Staten Island w/ Rime & Toper
Graffiti giants like Rime and Toper made Staten Island their stomping grounds during their New York City come up. And even if it is a place known for welcoming transitory residents (see some notable members of the infamous Wu-Tang Clan) or cats from Jersey - since the Bayonne Bridge connects to the Garden State - Staten Island breeds them hard. This is probably why powerhouses like Rime and Toper don't find it too hard to "regulate" on walls and surfaces like they had to commandeer growing up writing together.

Homeboy Sandman | Atlantis | prod. Blu
Homeboy Sandman and Blu hooking up on a track, in any capacity, is a win for hip-hop.
In this case, it’s Boy Sand on the raps, while Blu handles the production. Coming off of the release of his collabo EP with Paul White, White Sands, Homeboy Sandman is now gearing up to release a full-length album in the fall. Title, producers, and track list TBD, but Boy Sand apparently has been working on a few dozen tracks this year, and this joint with Blu, “Atlantis,” is one of them – and the best of the batch you’ll hear on that LP.
Take a trip under the sea with Sandman, below, and take a trip to the livest venue in your city to see the man live on tour, this spring (dates below). What do you think?
