Gensu Dean | The Art of Digging
The Grand Imperial, Gensu Dean, SP1200 producer, analog equipment junkie, and Mello Music producer, recently took a moment out of his NYC travels to talk about "The Art of Digging." A pure vinyl head, who abides by the Jedi code, Dean still covers labels, doesn't do e-digging, and explains why in this short video clip. It's this ethos, combined with hard knock production, that has garnered Gensu production credits and friendships with Large Professor, David Banner, Brand Nubian, Planet Asia, and even a co-sign from the King, DMC of Run DMC. Most recently Gensu Dean produced the entire album for Mississippi emcee 7evenThirty on a record titled "The Problem."

Atmosphere’s new album Southsiders | Stream
Minneapolis hip-hop duo Atmosphere will release its eighth studio album, Southsiders, on May 6th via Rhymesayers Entertainment. In anticipation, it’s streaming in full at Pandora.
Recorded in south Minneapolis and Oakland, the follow-up to 2011′s The Family Sign serves as a “shout-out to their native neighborhood”, according to a press release. It adds, “With Southsiders, the group’s unique sound featuring vibrant, live instrumentation and Slug’s often-weighty subject matter, continue to push the boundaries of what indie rap can mean.”
According to rapper Slug, the 15-track effort is a “natural progression” of The Family Sign, adding, “I’m starting to think, ‘What is post family man? What am I supposed to rap about now?’ I’m sticking to my roots, rapping about what I’m doing, what I think about. This record is much like the other ones: a very detailed look at my life. “

DJ Mile High & Yodes | Bedroom Sessions VII
Chicago's DJ Mile High and Iowa City's Yodes join forces for DJcityTV's first 2x4 Bedroom Sessions episode. Both DJs were trained by Big Once, Toadstyle and Boi Jeanius, and are members of Scratch Academy Chicago's inaugural graduating class.
In addition to clean turntablist skills, Mile High and Yodes showcase creative selection that includes both classic and new club tracks.
DJcity recognizes there's a ton of dope DJs from around the world who deserve more shine. To showcase their talent, we created a series called Bedroom Sessions that features folks throwing down sets in their homes. The mixes are open format without special effects, fancy club decoration and other fluff.
Got what it takes to be featured in the next episode? Send an example video (2-4 minutes) to brs@djcity.com
