Calm Before The Storm: Curren$y
In this episode of Calm Before The Storm, we go backstage with rapper Curren$y. He talks about the importance of being authentic and writing about actual life experiences, because it allows people to relate to his music. Additionally, he reminisces about attending numerous concerts with his mother as a child. Out of all the concerts he attended, he specifically recalls attending a Marvin Gaye concert that inspired his performance style. Curren$y was captivated by Marvin Gaye's ability to connect with the audience and his mastery of working the audience. At that moment, he knew "that was the way to do it".

Trae Tha Truth & Tony Rock Present BANNED Radio on Skee 24/7
Trae Tha Truth, an undisputed veteran of Southern hip hop and staple of the Houston community, alongside superstar comedian Tony Rock are happy to announce the launch of BANNED Radio on the Skee 24/7 Radio Network. Broadcasting live from Hollywood, CA on Skee 24/7 Radio starting Monday, May 20th, 2013, BANNED Radio can be heard live every Monday at 10pm EST/7pm PST (with on demand versions available immediately after).
BANNED Radio has been created partially in response to Trae's ban from commercial radio. With Skee having an established radio platform drawn from his 10+ years of radio experience, the alignment of Trae's BANNED Radio and Skee's network was natural.
"I'm more than excited to bring BANNED Radio to the fans," says Trae. "To be able to be back on the air is incredible. It's going to be huge, believe that."
"When Trae first brought the idea to me, I couldn't turn it down," stated Tony. "I've known Trae for a long time and to finally be able to work with him and create something unique is unbelievable."
"In keeping true to Skee 24/7's vision of giving artists a voice and platform, I'm extremely excited to welcome Trae back to radio on his own terms," stated DJ Skee. "Alongside one of the funniest comedians in the business, the chemistry between Tony and Trae is undeniable, and I can't wait for people to hear BANNED."
Trae's influence in the industry is unlike any other. With his larger-than-life influence and popularity in the city of Houston and the state of Texas, Trae has worked with the biggest names in music, including T.I., Future, Rick Ross, Game, Estelle, and countless others. Trae's street buzz and industry presence caught the attention of T.I., who signed the Texas rapper to his Grand Hustle imprint in 2012.
Trae's philanthropic efforts also go unmatched. After years of serving his Houston community, Trae was awarded his own local holiday in Houston, now known as Trae Day, which is recognized every year in the city of Houston.
American actor and stand-up comic Tony Rock has made his own contributions to the entertainment industry. With his brash but honest look at everyday life in his humor stemming from his New York childhood, Tony is recognized in the industry as a premier stand-up comedian, being featured on many respected comedy series and programs, including Comedy Central Presents, Apollo Live, Chelsea Lately, and more.
Skee 24/7 has grown to be the premier standard definition of online radio, boasting an unparalleled lineup of programs and music unlike any other. Trae & Tony join the station as hosts alongside other influencers in the radio and music industry like Crooked I, Caroline D'Amore, DJ Fingaz, and more, with more personalities lined up in the near future. Special guests to the station have included Wiz Khalifa, T.I., Kendrick Lamar, Paul Oakenfold, DJ Drama, DJ Aero, Tyga, Far East Movement, DJ Carnage, Problem, Rocko, actor Jon Huertas, Trinidad James, Mac Miller, and many, many others.
