ABOUT TOM CLANCY’S THE DIVISION 2:
Seven months have passed since a deadly virus hit New York City and the rest of the world, crippling the population. When the virus hit, The Division, a unit of civilian sleeper agents, was activated as the last line of defense. Since then, Division agents have been fighting relentlessly to save what remains.

For The Division, the stakes are higher than ever. Washington, D.C. – the most heavily protected city on earth – is at risk, leaving the entire nation on the brink of collapse. If Washington, D.C., is lost, then the nation falls. As a Division agent who has been in the field for seven months, you and your team are the last hope to stop the fall of society after the pandemic collapse.

Developed by Ubisoft Massive and the same teams that brought you Tom Clancy’s The Division®, Tom Clancy’s The Division® 2 is an online open world, action shooter RPG experience set in a collapsing and fractured Washington, D.C. This rich new setting combines a wide variety of beautiful, iconic, and realistic environments where the player will experience the series’ trademark for authenticity in world building, rich RPG systems, and fast-paced action like never before. Play solo or co-op with a team of up to four players to complete a wide range of activities, from the main campaign and adversarial PvP matches to the Dark Zone – where anything can happen.

A TRANSFORMED WASHINGTON, D.C.
In the wake of the virus, storms, flooding, and subsequent chaos have radically transformed Washington, D.C. Explore a living open world full of diverse environments, from flooded urban areas to historic sites and landmarks, during one of the hottest summers in history. The streets have been overrun with enemy factions, each with its own agenda and each vying for control of DC. It will be up to you to liberate the city and protect what remains of society.

BEST-IN-CLASS ENDGAME EXPERIENCE
Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 was built with an “endgame-first” mentality, ensuring players always have access to fresh, unique, and diverse activities long after completing the main campaign. Tom Clancy’s The Division 2’s endgame will introduce brand new challenges and progression systems, unique twists and surprises, and for the first time, raids. Players will also be able to access a wealth of post-launch content, including a full year of free additional story-driven missions, map expansions, and gameplay modes.

REVAMPED PLAYER PROGRESSION AND NEW SPECIALIZATIONS
After completing the main campaign, gain access to new specializations such as demolitionist, sharpshooter, and survivalist. Each specialization will open up an entire new progression system with new skills, mods, and unique talents to acquire and maximize your agent efficiency in your chosen role.

DYNAMIC LIVING WORLD
Civilians and enemy factions are constantly striving to survive, vying for necessities such as food, medicine, and ammunition. As the factions face off against each other in a ravaged DC, they will fight to seize control of resources and locations – and for their very survival. The various needs and motivations from each faction will collide, triggering different encounters between enemy and friendly factions, civilians, and ultimately you as an Agent, creating a dynamic living world full of surprises.

UNITE THE CIVILIANS
Civilians have banded together in settlements to rebuild their society, but their very existence is threatened. Work closely with them to keep them safe and in turn, they will come to your aid and provide supplies and assistance to build up your base of operations, giving a deeper meaning to the people and the world around you.

A RENEWED DARK ZONE EXPERIENCE
The Dark Zone is an untamed area of the map with some of the best loot in the game. The Dark Zone is also the most dangerous area in the game, where fear, betrayal, and tension are high, as any other agent can turn against you and steal your hard-earned loot. In Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, this playground was designed to provide a fair and exciting experience to all players, regardless of their level of progression.

15 ONLINE CO-OP GAMES YOU NEED TO BE PLAYING WITH YOUR FRIENDS

Video games were designed to be experienced with a crowd. Sure, depending on the title and its genre, there is much fun to be had from a single-player, narrative-driven campaign, but most of us find more amusement when socializing and teaming with others for some multiplayer mayhem. Whether its Call of Duty, Gears of War or World of Warcraft, everyone has a favorite cooperative game they’re constantly dragging friends online to play. While expanding their horizons, they’re noticing the wider selection of IPs out on the market delivering the same addictive and entertaining gameplay. Do you seek a new multiplayer fix? Here are 15 online co-op games you need to be playing with your friends.

1. ARMA III

Do you really want to put a friend’s loyalty to the test? Place them on the battlefield of this open-world, tactical shooter and see if they’re capable of lying down cover fire. Arma III is arguably the most extensive and realistic war simulator out, presenting an in-game editor and custom mission creator that allows up to 16 players to partake in it. Go mod crazy and invite friends to join your infantry to take out enemy threats.

2. GRAND THEFT AUTO V

Everyone’s favorite addiction became even more serious once Rockstar introduced the online component of its open-world action shooter dubbed GTA Online. Upon creating a character, you’re thrown into a random server with 16 other maniacal gamers, who most likely share the same affinity for causing havoc on the streets of Los Santos. Recruit robbers on the go and loot stores, or take on rival gangs by forming your own. The developer has plans to release a new Heists mode sometime in the coming weeks, but at this point, it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see it bundled with the upcoming PS4, PC and Xbox One versions slated this fall.

3. PATH OF EXILE

One of the few PC titles to support six-play online co-op, the dark fantasy RPG joins gamers together through party invites. From there the gang can seek out adventures and enter combat zones. Having the option to join a party at any given moment is a sweet deal. Although the game’s biggest selling point is in its six optional classes — Duelist, Marauder, Ranger, Shadow, Templar and Witch — where anyone can go buck wild customizing their characters.

4. DESTINY (BETA)

If you ask a real gamer what they’re playing at the moment, and nine times out of 10, the response will be Destiny. Not the full-length version, but the actual beta. It’s crazy. With access to a co-op Strike mission that welcomes fireteams of up to three players and a Crucible competitive multiplayer component, the alpha offers enough content to keep you hooked for hours on end. There’s a reason why the forums are calling Bungie’s shooter frontrunner for Game of the Year.

5. MONACO: WHAT’S YOURS IS MINE

Working with others is a challenge, but in the case of this stealth action title, it can be fun and rewarding. Be paired with three other robbers online, each boasting a special trait, and plot Ocean’s 11 to pull off a successful heist. Players can choose from a list of eight different classes, including a locksmith, pickpocket, mole, hacker and more. Sneak past alarms and armed guards with a little teamwork, stealing everything in sight. Show that there is an honor amongst thieves after all.

6. CALL OF DUTY: GHOSTS

For the one percent of gamers out there who haven’t succumbed to the hype of Activision’s shooter, it’s okay to give in at this point. We say that because you can only take so much Battlefield 4 multiplayer before the feeling of loneliness strikes. Ghosts has a variety of co-op modes to engage in from 6-player teams fighting against bots on multiplayer maps to 4-player squadrons creating defenses against an alien invasion. The fast-paced action forces players to collaborate as a unit, something most BF4 conformists might need some adjusting to.

7. MERCENARY KINGS

A modern throwback that borrows cues from past classics like Contra and Metal Slug, this side-scrolling shooter invites players to engage in some chaotic run-and-gun action. The gun-crafting system is insane to say the least with a variety of different weapons made available through the use of acquired resources dropped by enemies. Assault rifles, machine guns and pistols can basically be matched with barrels, magazines, and scopes to assemble even heavier firepower. Link up with four players to run through over 100 levels and eliminate baddies along the way.

8. DARK SOULS II

It’s time you come to terms with reality. Dark Souls II is impossible to beat solo. However, with a group, you stand a fighting chance. Gluttons for punishment can team up together and experience the same spirit-crushing torment through 4-player co-op, calling on each other through the use of white summon stones and receiving souls as a reward for assisting in boss battles. Just know there is a limit on summons, which is reflected by the amount of enemies defeated. Play it smart and save the backup for serious encounters. Oh wait, that’s every time.

9. KILLZONE: SHADOW FALL

The PS4 exclusive might be limited on multiplayer modes, but the content found in its latest Intercept expansion makes up for any co-op shortcomings. Sony fanboys can join a team of four to set out and intercept intel transmitted by the Helghast military. Each player has the luxury of choosing from four new character classes — Medic, Marksman, Tactician and Assault — while tasked with separate duties to help complete the mission. It’s all about scoring kills and teamwork.

10. IRONCLAD TACTICS

The card-based strategy game is awesome as a standalone title, but it works better as a competitive multiplayer game. Whether it’s through the story campaign or unique game modes, Ironclad Tactics lets you engage in seamless co-op play without any restrictions. Options to build collaborative decks or go at it with separate ones are at your disposal. The more players involved, the more addictive it gets.

11. PORTAL 2

Some co-op titles just have infinite replay value. Portal 2 just happens to be one of them. Valve’s first-person puzzler requires two minds to get past a series of mental-grieving challenges, placing responsibility on each player to move through their respective portals. Drop your guard and it’s only a matter of moves before one or the other is trapped in an endless wormhole. The campaign is short, but ridiculously enjoyable.

12. DIABLO III: REAPER OF SOULS

The first official expansion for Diablo III addresses the numerous issues present in the standalone title by adding new content and improved gameplay features. Blizzard opens up the virtual domain to join one of six different classes and tackle Act V of the Diablo III story. In co-op mode, you can earn bonus XP while balancing the difficulty level depending on the number of players present onscreen. Adventure mode manages to extend the multiplayer experience, letting everyone split up to complete bounties solo, earning credit and rewards for the entire team in the process.

13. HOW TO SURVIVE

How to Survive is a different style of zombie game, one that plays more like a crossbreed of Dead Island and Diablo. Join other survivors in the online multiplayer story and challenge modes to fight off the undead in hopes of surviving another day. The character skill trees are similar, but each one carries a unique trait that others in your party can’t use, forcing players to implement group strategies when swarmed around infected bodies. While lacking the wide array of gameplay found in most other survival-horror titles, How to Survive has enough substance to satisfy crowds until The Walking Dead comes back on the air this October.

14. PAYDAY 2

Heist fanatics looking to recreate infamous burglary scenes from pop culture classics like Heat or Point Break can live vicariously through the co-op FPS. Payday 2 succeeds at putting together well-planned bank robberies, letting teammates assign roles, scope out targeted joints, and strategize raids. The game stresses organization and preparation, as the slightest slipup will leave your entire team sitting in the back of a SWAT van. Don’t let it be you who takes the fall.

15. AGE OF WONDERS III

Don’t sleep on turn-based strategy games. With the right group of people, games like Age of Wonders III prove to be more entertaining than expected. The PC title throws a number of playable options at you like 8-player battles that divvy players up between humans and the AI to standalone scenarios with everyone on the same team. Execute attacks simultaneously via “adjacent hex rule” and fight against the same enemies on the tactical map.

Killzone Shadow Fall | The Statue DLC Map | PS4

After a cataclysmic explosion laid waste to their precious monument, the Helghast embarked on the massive task of reconstructing the Scolar Visari memorial statue and the adjacent armory building. While the recreational wing of the facility is largely completed, the armory itself is still covered in scaffolding and building equipment.

Killzone Shadow Fall Intercept | Co-Op Map Pack | The ATAC Tower & The Canal | PS4

The ATAC Tower: Perched against the inside of the Helghast security wall, the ATAC Tower functions as a hive for the ATAC drones patrolling New Helghan’s borders. The drones have proven to be an effective deterrent against Vektan invaders and Helghast defectors, so the VSA is sending in Intelligence Squad Alpha to secure the tower.

The Canal: Fallen into disuse after the New Helghan government abandoned hydroelectric power, the Canal has become an overgrown riverbed filled with discarded junk and debris. A key VSA informant used one of the abandoned treatment facilities along the banks as a hideout before disappearing, so now it’s up to Intelligence Squad Alpha to send the collected intel back to Vekta

YouTube Policy Changes 2014 | The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

We posted news yesterday having received an email from our YouTube network partner, stating changes are coming to Youtube starting in early 2014. A number of network partners have sent notifications to their members highlighting the changes and how to work alongside them.

At a glance it appears that the prevalent issue of copyright infringement has come to a head, and a tougher stance is being taken on those earning money from others works. Youtube started as a service for people to upload clips of themselves and share them but has since grown into a massive uncontrollable media outlet shrouded in many shades of grey in terms of what constitutes original content under fair usage, and what isn’t.

The Copyright Owners:

Looking at the situation from the perspective of the copyright owners, and it’s clear to see that under most terms and conditions it’s prohibited for third parties to receive financial gain from their works and even stretches to elements such as pay to play. Somehow, Youtube, has become a free license for people to make money in ignorance of its own policy which clearly states in its terms and conditions for monetization that all elements of the video are owned by the uploader, or suitable permissions have been granted by the copyright owner. This only applies to those who opt to monetize their videos, but in many cases, suitable permissions are likely to have not been granted and a wavering of misunderstood fair usages rights are often cited but remain inappropriate.

Although there’s very little publication of what is and isn’t permitted without diving through reams of text in terms and conditions, what the general consensus seems to be is that it’s welcomed for creators (in relation to video games) to post videos of their gameplay exploits, but not to make money from them especially as the copyright owner has no control over those earnings, and no stake in them either. Copyright owners do not have the resources to monitor and police Youtube , and so it’s the responsibility of Youtube to adhere to their terms, but as of now, there has been too much responsibility placed on the end user and its third party networks.

The Youtubers:

In many cases, simply uploading a trailer, or official gameplay footage, requires little to no effort, even recording gameplay as one plays with an unscripted voice-over takes some time, but isn’t particularly difficult – hence why there are so many of them. Whereas producing a quality show such as Angry Joe’s videos as one example, takes time, money and enthusiasm to maintain entertaining original content. However, no matter how big or small the production is, there’s still the issue of permission being granted to use gameplay footage in the video.

It’s no secret that a number of people have become Youtube superstars, earning lots of coin for their efforts and garnering millions of fans between them. But unlike massive Youtube hits such as the recent Gangnam Style video or comedians such as Tom Ska where all of the content is owned by the uploader, in many gaming related videos this is not the case.

There’s a strong argument that lets plays, walkthroughs and various other videos which feature gameplay are an invaluable resource for millions of viewers, and that it’s often seen as good independent promotion for products. However, it’s perhaps ignorant to believe that all videos paint a positive spin on the product they are using, which in turn emphasizes the huge grey area surrounding the issue.

In many cases, there’s time and effort placed in producing videos, and as an incentive, being paid is part of the appeal. For a number of content creators , being paid helps fund future projects, or enables creators to get better at what they are doing and so the option itself has fueled Youtube’s own growth and popularity as an open platform for individuals to create content.

The Good:

What is perhaps a positive from Youtube’s new policy is that creators will have to up their game a bit more in terms of the type of quality original content they produce which ultimately benefits the viewer. Whilst fair usage rights are very much misunderstood in terms of using copyrighted materials to make money, it’s likely that a more definitive set of guidelines will be made available from either the copyright owners, community or Youtube itself to address this.

The Bad:

For the smaller gaming channels and those starting afresh, Youtube will still be a viable platform for exposure, but there will be no or little financial reward unless you’ve been granted permission from the copyright owner, which is highly unlikely if creators are posting lets plays or gameplay clips. For some, having no monetary perk will choke content and undoubtedly will mean less videos being uploaded, which could result in more focused exposure for products and increased ad revenue for those who are more able to create unique content.

The Ugly:

Ultimately for some content creators, the lure of being able to bypass the current system’s checking procedure when joining a network will be diminished. For those already partnered, they will be locked in contracts which really offer no other benefits but will be paying them up to 50 per cent of their earnings regardless until they are either able to break contract or it expires.

What has also been established is that networks will be able to select channels to be affiliate or managed, with those who are trusted to produce original content that does not infringe copyrights being managed and avoiding the checks, and those who do not, or who fall into a grey area becoming affiliated. Managed channels will be the responsibility of the network. This naturally means the bigger channels are likely to continue to thrive as businesses and the smaller channels become more hobbyist.

It also suggests that both Microsoft and Sony will undoubtedly exercise some control over videos being uploaded to Youtube through their next gen devices such as Xbox One and PS4, where videos have monetization automatically disabled, or all ad revenue goes back to them. A stance which suggests there is no financial recognition for recording gameplay videos.

A Way Forward?

Youtube’s changes simply reinforce the idea that copyright owners are not prepared for others to make money from their works which is a fair stance to take, however what this does highlight is an inherent flaw in how Youtube’s content creators have been operating within the jurisdiction of copyright laws.

The best outcome that adheres to all parties concerned would be a system where copyright owners automatically receive proceeds or royalties as a percentage from the advertising revenue users gain. Nintendo already has exercised taking over ad revenue from Youtube videos featuring their content which can be seen as quite harsh, but shows the components are there to make it feasible. Musicians receive royalties for public performances of their works handled via the Performance Right Society (PRS) in the UK. So a more open platform can work where both parties are catered to. The all or nothing approach is perhaps self destructive, and will inhibit some forms of content and creativity, but won’t hinder those who simply want to post videos and become popular from doing so. Youtube could amalgamate its gaming channels under one roof to facilitate the idea and would mean independent networks would have to offer more benefits and incentives to creators for joining them.

Alternatively, copyright owners could be more transparent with what is deemed original content, and offer open avenues for content creators to seek permissions pertaining to specific projects. This way, they could exercise some form of control over the type of content being published – in light of spoiler or leaked videos for example.

The Reality:

Whilst it’s not clear how far reaching Youtube’s new policy will be when it rolls, the reality for many will be they will not be able to continue to post gameplay videos, trailers and monetize them without proof of permission from the copyright owner. The system is said to be random, but possibly based on a trust rating. Whilst not gospel, it is suggested that creators will still be able to upload and monetize their videos, but if a video is flagged and proof of permission is provided, then it will become easier for that user to keep posting videos without them being flagged. Creators who simply post videos without monetizing them will not be affected per the terms of the individual copyright owners.

The good news is some developers are being quite clear and instrumental when it comes to uploading videos to Youtube and monetizing them, with some even providing a consent document for creators to present to Youtube if asked for permission. If more indie studios and any of the bigger players adopt this stance it could lead to greater exposure for independent projects and those publishers looking to encourage the gaming community.
