Rhythm Roulette | Organized Noize
What can be said about Organized Noize that isn't already evident in the legacy of their production discography? Paving the way for breakout acts like TLC, OutKast, and Goodie Mob, there's no denying Ray Murray, Rico Wade, and Sleepy Brown are the foundation of Atlanta hip hop.
On the latest episode of Rhythm Roulette, we join ONP at the iconic Stankonia Studios. While the trio came up making sample-based hip hop, they quickly learned the real secret was creating everything from scratch (not to mention those royalty checks get a little fatter). However, they welcomed our challenge with such conviction that we knew nothing less than a banger was coming out of the studio by the end of the night.
Pulling from the Four Tops, Thin Lizzy, and Millie Jackson, ONP had to eventually set the records aside because there was too much to sample. While the final result is an 808-heavy, atmospheric production stamped with the crew's signature soulful grooves, we got the sense they'll be saving this one for something special, as they quickly told their engineer to stop recording once Sleepy laid down the bassline. The records were quickly tucked away; Ray, Rico, and Sleepy smirked as if they'd stumbled upon buried treasure. Trust, a fire was sparked in the studio than night. Here's to hoping it isn't extinguished anytime soon.

Anderson .Paak | A N I M A L (Epsiode 5)
Anderson .Paak is steady steady cooking up that soul. In the fifth installment of his A N I M A L series, you get the complete picture of Paak as an artist from bare-bones creation to his amped up onstage persona. Scaling back on the quick, playful cuts, the shots linger much longer; the song snippets are extended; the sense of materialization is unavoidable.
The studio rat in him comes out like the occasional NYC subway rodent with the audacity to scurry on the platform instead of on the tracks. Whether AP is banging on a digital drum set while simultaneously laying down some vocals with DJ Khalil, or getting cosigns aplenty from Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Omarion, and others, it is clear that the stu is the animal’s natural habitat. With so many artists floating in and out of sessions and so many different snippets of songs, it’s unclear when and where all of this music will show up; but lawd it’s so funkin’ funky. A live performance for Revolt TV also displays his raw, beastly energy on stage for a guy on the smaller side.
The intentions behind this series were clear from the beginning: Get as many people hyped as possible for what Paak has in store. As transparent as that is, it’s pretty damn difficult to not be excited.

Pham is an incredible new artist gaining momentum in the EDM scene. His Soundcloud garnered 9.8MM streams, and is just waiting to be brought to the mainstream. He has a six track EP set to release this year, and an upcoming US tour! Expect to see Pham a lot next festival season! Pham is Vietnamese and currently resides in Poland.
Phillip Chbeeb aka “Pacman”, has worked with numerous music artists including Ed Sheeran (yuup, he’s the guy from Don’t), Taylor Swift, and Justin Bieber. When your father is on most hip hop head’s G.O.A.T. short lists, there are easier paths in life to choose than becoming an emcee—but then again, Chris Rivers was never really into the easy path. Born in the Bronx, he lost his father, Big Pun, at age six. When the riches ran out—under circumstances that are the subject of an ongoing lawsuit—his family was plunged into poverty, living in and out of homeless shelters for a time.
Chris clearly inherited his father’s powerful intellect, and considered becoming an astronaut, but circumstances prevented him pursuing those interstellar visions. Instead, he’s pursuing the rap game in hopes of saving up 250 racks so he can purchase a ticket to the cosmos. His new mixtape, Medicated Consumption, drops today with an accompanying EP for those who want to support the kid’s outer space movements. What better time to catch up with Baby Pun?
