Detroit spawned The White Stripes, raised Eminem, and birthed Insane Clown Posse and horrorcore. It was the home of Motown, Alice Cooper, and Bob Seger, and Madonna grew up in the city's suburbs.

Arguably one of the most vital and exciting artists to emerge from Detroit in recent years is Danny Brown. In this seventh episode of Made In America Danny discusses the mentality of local music fans and artists, and the formative effect the city's had on his own music.

Shon Roka (pronounced Shaun Roca) the DJ also known as Shaun Ortega was born on the west-side of Chicago. He started gaining fame as a bboy in 1991 and later became a member of a well known crew called the BRICKHEADZ. He would perform for such artist and events such as The Roots, KRS One, Immortal Technique, Dougie Fresh, Common, Rhymefest, Cypress Hill, Pharoah Monch, Nas, Diddy, Mariah Carey, Taste of Chicago, Lollapolooza, Looptopia, B96 Summer Bash just to name a few. The BRICKHEADZ also won many breakin' competition nationally and internationally. While Shon Roka was being active as a bboy he was working on his craft of being a DJ.
DJing for w/ Nike, Jordan, Under Armour, Adidas, Vans, Uprise (Chicago) Skateshop for numerous in-stores, sporting events, galleries and corporate outings. Also Shon Roka is a resident DJ post Covid in Chicago at McGee's, Tantrum, Imbibe and Harbee's. While being a DJ, he has been teaching music production and the Art of Skateboarding through Maggie Daley's After School Matters. Also known as Gallery 37.

JDott Trife | Homicide | Official Video | Chicago
Although the title is very bold and straight forward "Homicide" is not a song glorifying violence and gang culture but simply raising awareness of the current Homicides in the inner city of Chicago. The video shows the day in a life of a young teenage boy growing up in a inner city Chicago neighborhood and how he is influenced by " Hustler lifestyle" which ultimately leads him to an early demise.
The video was shot and edited by Sense Hernandez of Beast Factory.
The song was written by JDott Trife and produced by Nascent & Q.B
This song is off JDott Trife's upcoming Indie album "FYF - The Plug" due out on June 4th, 2013. The project features Astonish, Calliko, Lungz, Blanco Caine, Bodi Deeder and production from DJ O- ZoNe , Nascent & Q.B and Wes P.
