"This video was shot when Benefit was visiting NYC for the first official Live from the Streets album release party. We didn't really have a plan but we knew Ben was only here for a couple days so we got busy and shot as much as we could. In addition to this video we also filmed a video for "if i don't go to hell" including cameos from the wonderful Janice. That video will come out down the road as a part of the ongoing Live from the Streets saga. I honestly don't know what the future holds for the show but I know we've created something truly special with LFTS and I know that we aren't even close to finished.
This video is special to me because it features some of the best moments in the Live from the Streets
show over the last couple years along with a couple glimpses into future episodes (like Sean Price and Odb).
It’s also special because it’s my first time rhyming on a real song. Shoutout to the legendary Benefit for hearing me rhyme and then convincing me to jump on a real song. If enough people ask me to I might put out more rhymes... we will see."

Shon Roka (pronounced Shaun Roca) the DJ also known as Shaun Ortega was born on the west-side of Chicago. He started gaining fame as a bboy in 1991 and later became a member of a well known crew called the BRICKHEADZ. He would perform for such artist and events such as The Roots, KRS One, Immortal Technique, Dougie Fresh, Common, Rhymefest, Cypress Hill, Pharoah Monch, Nas, Diddy, Mariah Carey, Taste of Chicago, Lollapolooza, Looptopia, B96 Summer Bash just to name a few. The BRICKHEADZ also won many breakin' competition nationally and internationally. While Shon Roka was being active as a bboy he was working on his craft of being a DJ.
DJing for w/ Nike, Jordan, Under Armour, Adidas, Vans, Uprise (Chicago) Skateshop for numerous in-stores, sporting events, galleries and corporate outings. Also Shon Roka is a resident DJ post Covid in Chicago at McGee's, Tantrum, Imbibe and Harbee's. While being a DJ, he has been teaching music production and the Art of Skateboarding through Maggie Daley's After School Matters. Also known as Gallery 37.

#HelloHipHop 3rd Annual Food and Toy Drive | November 20th 2013 | Save The Date
Hello Hip-Hop is back at SubT Lounge on Wednesday, November 20th from 9pm-2am for their 3rd Annual Food and Toy Drive. This annual event collects donations that benefit Toys for Tots, and the Chicago Food Depository.
Admission is just $7, or $5 with the donation of non-perishable food items, or new, unused, and unwrapped toy(s).
Hosted by VISUAL, with music by DJ’s Shon Roka & Bvax, this year’s performance lineup includes Pinqy Ring, NorthRock 360, Awdazcate, The Ideologists, Bosco, Nature Boi, and The Survivalists. Mo Parker of 1124 Designs will be in the house as the resident photographer for the night.
