Picture Cirque De Soleil crashing a fight between Bruce Lee and James Brown, interrupted by a musical dissertation on the wonders of physics. There is no better way to get a crowd’s attention than with Chicago’s most acclaimed breakdancing crew, the Brickheadz. Spinning, hopping, and sliding on hands, head shoulders and elbows, and all while rocking the beat of the music—dance doesn’t get better than this. The beat drops, hands clap, and insanity ensues. A guy comes out, leaps on to one hand, spins backward onto the other, spins five times on that hand, drops to his head, ten more spins, followed by an array of indescribable, flipping, bouncing, whirling and acrobatic contortionism, which he stops on a dime in an impossible looking pose which he holds long enough for someone to ask “what the @#$% is that!?!” It’s the BRICKHEADZ, and following the first dancer, are up to twenty others with their own unique styles in which to make you wet your pants. This is a performance.

Watching solo after solo, audiences are convinced they have landed in an unchartered universe. Just when this new matrix reality to which the audience is introduced begins to seem somewhat believable, the performance elevates to the next level. The dancers synchronize and interweave their cringe-producing combinations and flow into choreography crisp enough for Radio City Music Hall. “Where am I? Who is that?”

The BRICKHEADZ—defying gravity and riding the curves of space since 1985. They have traveled to nearly every state in the U.S. and been flown nationally and internationally to compete in breakdancing competitions. The crew has performed at Lollapalooza, danced with KRS One, opened for Pharoahe Monch, demonstrated at the Museum of Contemporary Art, and been hired by Mayor Daley. The crew has also performed at gallery openings, block parties, street festivals, movie releases, store openings and more personal events such as weddings, anniversaries, birthday parties and bar/bat mitzvahs to name a few.

Members of the Brickheadz, teach and perform, throughout Chicagoland and beyond, maintaining an unparalleled professionalism in the art of breakdancing/bboying. What better way to thrill your quests and ignite your party than with a performance by Chicago’s number one breakdancing crew.
