Hopsin "On what sent him over the edge to walk away from Funk Volume" | HardKnockTV

Hard Knock Tv's Nick Huff Barili sat down with Hopsin at his home studio for an in-depth interview. This is part 2 of the conversation. As most of you know Funk Volume is no longer. Hop sat down with Nick for over an hour to explain how things got to this point and why he has walked away from his own label Funk Volume and his distribution deal with WBR. Hopsin breaks down why he is no longer talking to his former Funk Volume partner Dame and how things are with the rest of the crew including Dizzy Wright and Jarren Benton. Shon Roka

Shon Roka (pronounced Shaun Roca) the DJ also known as Shaun Ortega was born on the west-side of Chicago. He started gaining fame as a bboy in 1991 and later became a member of a well known crew called the BRICKHEADZ. He would perform for such artist and events such as The Roots, KRS One, Immortal Technique, Dougie Fresh, Common, Rhymefest, Cypress Hill, Pharoah Monch, Nas, Diddy, Mariah Carey, Taste of Chicago, Lollapolooza, Looptopia, B96 Summer Bash just to name a few. The BRICKHEADZ also won many breakin' competition nationally and internationally. While Shon Roka was being active as a bboy he was working on his craft of being a DJ. DJing for w/ Nike, Jordan, Under Armour, Adidas, Vans, Uprise (Chicago) Skateshop for numerous in-stores, sporting events, galleries and corporate outings. Also Shon Roka is a resident DJ post Covid in Chicago at McGee's, Tantrum, Imbibe and Harbee's. Hopsin Breaks Down “Fly”, Says he didn't want to make it Ill Mind 8 + talks Kanye West + More

Hard Knock Tv's Nick Huff Barili sits down with Hopsin for exclusive in-depth interview. In part 3, Hopsin:
1. Explains the inspiration behind his song “Fly”.
2. Says Fly was going to be Ill Mind 8 but he was tired of Ill Mind attachment. “I just want to make a great song that wasn’t Ill Mind.”
3. Thinks that corporations don’t really care about our health and well-being. All the care about is making money.
4. Questions societies standard for beauty. Says TV tries to show us “perfect” looking people that we cant live up to.
5. Wonders why we cant just accept people for who they are.
6. Says he dresses the way he does because he doesn't "care to impress anybody.”
7. Admits that he wanted to be naked at the end of the Fly video but he didn’t want video to get taken down by You Tube.
8. Talks using Harmony Engine not Autotune at the end of Fly but he sees where people would make Kanye Autotune comparison.
