Shon Roka (pronounced Shaun Roca) the DJ also known as Shaun Ortega was born on the west-side of Chicago. He started gaining fame as a bboy in 1991 and later became a member of a well known crew called the BRICKHEADZ. He would perform for such artist and events such as The Roots, KRS One, Immortal Technique, Dougie Fresh, Common, Rhymefest, Cypress Hill, Pharoah Monch, Nas, Diddy, Mariah Carey, Taste of Chicago, Lollapolooza, Looptopia, B96 Summer Bash just to name a few. The BRICKHEADZ also won many breakin' competition nationally and internationally. While Shon Roka was being active as a bboy he was working on his craft of being a DJ.
DJing for w/ Nike, Jordan, Under Armour, Adidas, Vans, Uprise (Chicago) Skateshop for numerous in-stores, sporting events, galleries and corporate outings. Also Shon Roka is a resident DJ post Covid in Chicago at McGee's, Tantrum, Imbibe and Harbee's. While being a DJ, he has been teaching music production and the Art of Skateboarding through Maggie Daley's After School Matters. Also known as Gallery 37.

VICE INTL put four Mexican skateboarders in a van and followed them on a vertiginous one-week adventure.
Max Barrera, Hugo Zurita, Shadi Charbel and Alfredo 'Blunt' Franco went looking for some of the best skateboarding spots in Mexico and visited Cuernavaca, Morelia, Puebla and Querétaro - proving that any place can be good enough for skateboarding.

Jamal Bufford x Kensaye | Freedom Is | Album
The Black Op: Era II continues to shine a light on the collective's individual artists, this time around it's co-founder Jamall Bufford's turn to hold the torch. In collaboration with new TBO producer Kensaye, from London, he delivers Freedom Is. The album is not only a statement but also an exploration of freedom's complexity, a question aimed at engaging the listener and provoking thought.
Jamall Bufford stays true to himself and shows maturity and growth, exploring different topics with unconventional viewpoints and his personal insights. Once again Bufford demonstrates the versatility that has garnered the Ann Arbor, MI native worldwide recognition. Kensaye gives his take on freedom by showcasing a varied palette of sounds. His live instrumentation, electronic synths and soulful undertones prove that he cannot be pigeonholed. The genre-bending sound is the perfect ingredient to blend with Bufford's verses. Freedom Is is Jamall Bufford and Kensaye's idea of freedom, and at this crucial time in history, it's their way to engage listeners to join the conversation.
